Ring Road Progress and Latest Development Updates 2024

In a stride towards better connectivity and improved transportation, the construction of the Rawalpindi Ring Road (R3) embarked on September 22, 2023, aiming to link Rawalpindi and Islamabad with a 38.3 km circular highway.

Starting from Channi Sher Alam bridge near Rawat till the Thalian interchange near the M2 Motorway, thisprojectguarantees to significantly improvetravel time between the two cities.

Master Plan of Ring Road Rawalpindi:

Top government agencies such as the RDA (Rawalpindi Development Authority) and CDA (Capital Development Authority) are heading this grand Ring Road project., The plan includes a 6-lane controlled-access route with speed limit of 120 km/hr. The master plan of the ring road is spanned over 38.3 km with 12 km of secured land.

NESPAK presented the plans for this grand marvel last year, and top of the line heavy machinery was sanctioned for constructing the six-lane road, along with commencing work on subways, drainage channels, and various road sections

This R3 project also promises an industrial zone along the Rawalpindi Ring Road, with five interchanges at strategic locations at Banth, ChakBeli Khan, Adiala Road, Chakri Road, and Thalian. Along with these interchanges the project also includes the construction of a railway bridge, 5 overpasses, and 21 subways with a total of 90 structures.

 

Ring Road Latest Update and Development Work 2024

The Ring Road project is said to be completed by the 31st of July and is to be announced to be inaugurated on the 14th of August 2024.

According to Rawalpindi Division Commissioner Liaquat Ali Chatta 18% of physical work on the Ring Road project is completed and development work on the rest of the project is ongoing and in full swing. Planning of traffic network of the Ring Road and Motorway is also in progress.

In addition to the construction work the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) is also contacted to develop and present a plan for plantations on both sides of the Ring Road to beautify the project further.

The commissioner further assured the citizen that there was going to be no compromise on the quality of the construction and development of this project.
